Chessboard structure in Connect 4 Multiplayer

  • The chessboard has 6 vertical rows and 7 horizontal columns, creating 42 positions where chess pieces can be placed.
  • The grid acts as a simulated gravity: when a chess piece is dropped into a column, it will automatically fall to the lowest empty position in that column.
  • The number of players is always two, which can be real people or robots, depending on the mode you choose.
  • Each player has a separate chess piece color, such as red and yellow, to easily distinguish which positions their chess color is placed in.

Rules for moves and dropping the flag

  • Turns: Two players take turns making their moves.
  • During their turn, the player must drop a chess piece of their color into any empty column on the chessboard.
  • The chess piece always falls to the lowest empty position of that column. This means that you can only place your pieces from the top down, not on spaces that are already filled by other pieces below.
  • The turn ends when the piece is in place, and your opponent starts their turn.

What is your goal in Connect 4 Multiplayer?

The game is similar to Four In A Row, where the player needs to be the first to place four pieces of their own color in a row. These rows can be formed in three ways:

  • Horizontal: Four pieces in a row.
  • Vertical: Four pieces in a row.
  • Diagonal: Four pieces in a row (two diagonal directions).

The game ends immediately when a player achieves this sequence of four pieces. If all 42 spaces on the board are filled without anyone winning, the game is considered a draw.

Strategy in Connect 4 Multiplayer

If you want to win against your opponent, you need to have your own strategies.

  • There are many ways to play. At first, you should attack your opponent in a rush by focusing on creating continuous chains of three pieces to create more chances of winning in the next turns.
  • In addition to attacking your opponent because defense is extremely important, you should prevent your opponent from completing their chain of four pieces. Otherwise, you will lose and end the game.
  • The smartest strategy is to create for yourself two or more chances of winning in two different positions in one turn. The opponent can only block one of the two lines; of course, you will go to the remaining line and win the match.
