The game requires coordination between two players to overcome obstacles and solve puzzles. Each character has a unique ability: Fireboy cannot touch water and Watergirl cannot touch fire. Levels include a variety of traps and mechanisms such as buttons, moving platforms, and dangerous liquids (fire, water, and green slime).
As with any game, the levels get harder as you play, giving players a challenge without getting bored with the game being too easy. Difficult levels challenge players to think creatively and work together better. Like Egg Dash, it starts out easy but gets harder as you progress.
Players must control both characters through levels with many challenging challenges. Along the way, collect diamonds scattered on the road and try to reach the safe exit to complete the level.
